Heart of Texas BEST Robotics has been in existence since our inaugural 2010 competition season, and has served over 1,500 middle and high school students in the six county Heart of Texas Region. Seeking to inspire and motivate students towards STEM careers through a sports like robotics competition, H.O.T. BEST Robotics is hosted and largely supported by Texas State Technical College in Waco, TX and is part of the Department of College Readiness and Advancement.
BEST Robotics began 23 years ago with two engineers experiencing the powerful connection between young students, technical problem solving, and the collaborative atmosphere of middle and high school competition. That singular vision has evolved into over 49 hubs in a nineteen states, and four regional championships running an annual design to market challenge. Schools compete in five major scoring areas all trying to bring the BEST Overall Award which is scored not only by Robot Performance, but by a Marketing Presentation, an Engineering Design Notebook, a Team Exhibit and Interview, and each team's unique sense of Spirit & Sportsmanship. All of this taking place in six weeks in the fall, and top finishers advance to the Texas BEST Regional Championship to take on the BEST from around Texas and New Mexico.
