Welcome to Bobcat BEST!
BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science, and Technology) is an organization dedicated to fostering science and engineering among high school and middle school students throughout the country. Each fall, students teams construct a robot to perform a collection of tasks from a limited set of materials. The program is completely free to participating schools. There are no entry fees and all equipment and materials are provided for the teams.
Students must perform all the work, while engineers act as mentors and guide students through the design and construction phase. Yes, of course, students learn engineering, technical, problem solving and logical thinking skills. But they also learn so much more, such as team work, leadership, professionalism and presentation skills. It builds confidence, promotes creativity and encourages good sportsmanship. Did I mention that it is FREE???
The competition itself is a high energy, spirited event that will rival any high school playoff game. From complete, focused silence as the time runs down to rowdy roaring that shakes the floor as the time runs out. I'm not even mentioning the bands and cheerleaders (oops, just did).
Bobcat BEST is hosted at Texas State University where students get the chance to explore the great engineering programs offered there. Winning teams will then move on to the Regional competition in Dallas, Texas, at the The University of Texas - Dallas.Bobcat BEST is one of 19 hubs spread throughout Texas. The Bobcat BEST hub serves the Central Texas area covering Hayes county and surrounding communities. If your school is interested in participating, please contact us using the Contact Us link on the left side of this page. If you are not from the Central Texas area, we will still welcome you or help you find a hub in your area.

|While we are especially proud to advance Dripping Springs Middle School and San Marcos Highschool on to the Regional competition, we can not ignore the tremendous efforts put forth by Luling High School, Luling Middle School, Hope Christian Academy, and Dripping Springs Highschool. They were all true competitors this year and all deserve recognition for the robots that they brought to the field.|
